Metlab also has rotary hearth furnaces and press quenches for controlled dimensional quenching of round or flat components. These include bearing races, clutch disks, reel heads, and other similar parts.
Parts which have been heavily machined, or parts which have been heat treated, will sometimes need straightening to achieve or maintain critical dimensional tolerance. This is done by clamping the parts and heating them to a low temperature, to cause the part, or areas of the part, to move in a controlled direction. Straightening may also be performed by pressing on the part at selected locations, then stress relieving to remove any residual stress. After straightening, the part is ready for further processing or for final use.
